Violinist, soloist, chamber musician, conductor. He has studied at the Warsaw Music Academy in the class of prof. T. Wroński and doc S. Kawalla then in Leningrad in the class of Boris Gutnikov and in Freiburg in the class of Wolfgang Marschner. As a member of the Polish Quartet, he has won awards at competitions in Belgrade and Munich. From 1982 mr Tomaszewski is the 1st Concertmaster of Deutsche Oper Berlin.

From 1983 a lecturer and from 2002 professor at Universität der Künste in Berlin. From 2018 also a lecturer at the Academy of Arts in Szczecin. As a soloist he is playing with orchestras both in his country and abroad. In his long career, he was a leader in many chamber groups, including: European Piano Trio, Stradivari Sextett Habisreutinger, Kammersolisten der Deutschen Oper Berlin Chamber Orchestra, Polish String Quartet Berlin. Tomasz Tomaszewski is the founder and Artistic Director of the Silesian Music Summer Festival. He is also the president of Internationale Beethoven Gesellschaftand, the founder and Artistic Director of the European Forum of Polish Musicin Berlin. Tomasz Tomaszewski is a juror of many Polish and international competitions, regularly conducts master classes in Poland, Germany, Italy, Belgium, France, Spain, Japan, Korea and China.

Tomasz Tomaszewski won twice the Fryderyk Award in 2019 the award of the German Phonographic Criticism for CD Poland Abroad.Tomasz Tomaszewski is an honorary citizen of Opole and the city of Tortorici in Italy. In 1998 for outstanding artistic achievements and dissemination of Polish culture abroad, he received the Golden Cross of Merit from the President of the Republic of Poland
